I've not seen the new Shogun TV series yet, and I probably won't get round to it. But I did see some photos of the Osaka set from the series, and it inspired me to make some 'street clutter' for my 28mm town. I started the 28mm project with the intention of doing mainly urban… Continue reading 28mm ‘Street Clutter’

Pause for Fort
I've added another 6 sections to the 6mm modular fort. Specifically, some corners to enable being able to represent a 'demaru,' a projecting fort from a larger one, and to have a bit more versatility in creating shapes. As usual, the towers are handmade from mdf bits and card, the fences are 3D prints designed… Continue reading Pause for Fort
Re-treeing the village
I've been gradually replacing some of the cheap wire trees on my 6mm village bases with some trees made from 3D printed armatures by The Lazy Forger. These were printed for me by Sabotag3d who used a really good resin that has a bit of 'give' but is otherwise very durable. The armatures were painted… Continue reading Re-treeing the village
Modular fort sections
As I noted in the previous post on the fort construction, I also decided to make some modular fort sections in the same style as the 'Arato' fort. These are 10cm squares and can be used to make forts of different sizes. Again, the buildings are by Leven and Oshiro, with some modification. I'll probably… Continue reading Modular fort sections
It’s The Fort That Counts
One of the first things I wanted to do when I complete enough command stands and command groups for the Uesugi and Takeda was to try out Miike Yoshimasa’s alternative theory for Kawanakajima. This sees the battle starting with the Uesugi attacking Takeda forts and killing Takeda Nobushige in the process. Obviously, that game would… Continue reading It’s The Fort That Counts
Babō-saku Revisited
A few years ago I made some babō-saku, but the process was rather labour intensive. I wanted some representation of the ropes tying each join and that took a long time by hand. When the subject of fences came up in a Twitter conversation, I asked Paul at Sabotag3d whether he could design and print… Continue reading Babō-saku Revisited
A few more bases
I've added another village base to the total. These are Pendraken buildings, nominally 10mm, but about the same size as the Mura miniatures ones. Oshiro Models are bringing out a long-awaited range of 6mm buildings soon, which will hopefully be Baccus-compatible. Also, there's another 'bushidan' unit. These units have as many figures as the sonae… Continue reading A few more bases
More rice fields
I've made another 6 rice fields to go with the previous 6, following the guide in the terrain guide section here. Which was useful as I certainly couldn't remember how I did the first lot. The 6 new fields: With the other 6 rice fields: And with all the other fields:
Back in the Village
In between 28mm games, I've recently added a bit more scenery to the 6mm. I've made some more forest bases using bigger trees, and revamped the small shrine which was hidden in one of the forest bases, to better fit in with the rest of the village bases. The small shrine base: And the… Continue reading Back in the Village
Fields of Mino
I've added some more field bases to the collection. These were inspired by the opening scene in last year's Taiga drama, 'Kirin ga Kuru.' It's the usual routine of static grass applied with an applicator. The farmers are plastic model railway figures. They're actually 1/200 with their feet cut off. You can recover the body… Continue reading Fields of Mino
